MARVIN FRANCIS is a self taught Artist.
Marvin Francis sculptures give the public a glimpse into prison life, exploration of a broad spectrum of political issues, and provides a way for him to revisit the few pleasant childhood memories.
As a victim of child abuse, Marvin feels that art has helped him heal and therefore he donates the majority of the proceeds from the sales of his art work to programs that help break the cycle of all types of child abuse.
Marvin's work has been exhibited in numerous group shows. 21C Museum in Louisville, Kentucky has many of his sculptural pieces in its permanent collection. The Kentucky Folk Art Center's permanent collection includes several of Marvin's sculptures. In addition, information about Marvin and his work is included in the archives of the American Folk Art Museum in New York City for research and curatorial purposes. In 2006 he won first place in an International Art Competition in Berlin, Germany.
